Animal Assisted Play Therapy™

Wiggles and Wags will brighten your day.

Animals and our relationships with them can, and do, hold special places in our lives and memories.

Animals are our playmates, confidants, friends, and family members – they offer comfort, companionships, entertainment, and unconditional love.

For us, our dogs are all these things – and we get to work with them.

What can our dogs do?

First, and most importantly, they can be dogs and that’s what we want them to do – be true to themselves!

We believe in trusting, respectful relationships and we share these relationship tools with you. We play to our dogs’ strengths! They may choose to interact directly, play alongside, and/or sit back and watch. We allow them that choice as we want everyone to enjoy the time together.

Our dogs are individuals and have their own special skills, individuals they work with, and traits they promote. For more information on our canine team members, please check out our dogs’ pages!

Professional Pups

We currently have seven dogs that are training or are trained to be included in therapy sessions. Our counselors have had a variety of extensive training for themselves and their dogs to be considered for inclusion with some clients.

All of our dogs have been assessed for appropriateness for work with kids, teens, and adults, as well as received additional specialized training alongside their human therapists.

Just like us, our dogs need breaks, so we cannot guarantee our dogs will always be present. We can promise that even if they are not there, we will likely have stories about them to share and/or other activities that they join in spirit.

What if all the dogs took a day off?

If all the office dogs are sharing a day off to reset, relax, and regroup for their next work day, the office hamster is here!

Just like the dogs, the hamster will wiggle and waddle to engage you in your session. While hamster play is slightly different than dog play, he is trained very similarly to the dogs and often ready to share some love.
