Jessica

Hello! My name is Jessica Martin.

I’m a registered intern working toward licensure with Delta Family Counseling.

Thank you for taking a moment to look at my page.

What is a registered intern in mental health counseling, you ask? Well, I’m learning how to be a great sidekick!

A sidekick’s role is to provide support to the main superhero; this support can consist of guidance, feedback, supplies, humor, and even just someone to confide in.

Who’s the main superhero?

You! This is your series, and I’m here to help you navigate!

I’ve had several years of education to become a sidekick. I’ve earned a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in psychology with a focus on risk, resilience, and prevention, and then went on to complete a second Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

I’ve also received extra training in trauma-focused approaches and emotion-focused therapy, as well as including animals in therapy.

I’m currently gaining experience as a sidekick, working with children as young as 2 years to adults in the later stages of life. I believe in a positive, person-centered approach with a focus on individual strengths.

My area of specialty is failure to launch, working with teens and young adults transitioning into more independent life roles. I also work to provide support to the families experiencing this transition with them.

As your sidekick, I’m here to help guide you through the transitional maze and develop the tools to become your best you!

For more information on this unique group and our services, please check out the Failure to Launch page.

I’m an animal lover at heart.

I have three dogs who have trained with me that are currently sidekicks alongside me at Delta Family Counseling. You can learn more about Raine and Jade on their pages (Monk’s page is coming soon!)

Animals were an important part of my own youth; my array of pets were my confidants, friends, and playmates. Working with my dogs, I hope to offer these many benefits of animal relationships to my clients.

My passion is further enjoyed in my work with Pawsitive Kids Camp, a collaborative nonprofit of Delta Family Counseling and Brooke’s Legacy Animal Rescue.

I’m an active volunteer and foster with Brooke’s Legacy and find my sidekick skills + passion are also well used in giving the pets we save a second chance and watching them learn and grow on their journey to finding their best forever home!
